



History of King David #90
King David Chapter #90, OES was consecrated on December 15, 1922. The idea originated in
the mind of Mrs. Josephine Christman, who proceeded to formulate this thought into reality.
After a suitable number of participant's were obtained, the group was organized into a club.
The name King David was selected. This Club was instituted into King David U.D Club. On
December 28, 1921, in Cornerstorn Chapter No. 68
There were 33 members of the club initiated at this time, and dispensation was granted by
Brother Ruben G. Bell, Worthy Grand Patron to work as a U.D. Chapter. The chapter worked
faithfully as a U.D. Chapter bringing in members and conferring three degrees at every
meeting as the time was growing short.
The first two months of 1922, the members met twice a month at the Union Masonic Hall,
locate at 3956 South State Street. The member increased, so they had to move to 6 west 44th
street. In August of 1922, King David U. D. petitioned Eureka Grand Chapter for its warrant
under the supervision of Sister Emma S. Kennedy, Worthy Grand Matron and Brother Ruben
G. Bell, Worthy Grand Patron. The membership increased from 33 to 208.
In 1942, King David Lodge No. 100, F&AM, P.H.A adopted King David Chapter No 90. The
presiding Worthy Matron was Sister Ruth Bybee and presiding Worthy Patron was Brother
Fredrick A. Garden. The Chapter was present with a beautiful banner form the Lodge.
In 1950, Brother Frederick A. Garden of King David Chapter No. 90 served as Worthy Grand
Patron, of Eureka Grand Chapter, O.E.S. Sister Julia Mathis, Past Matron also previously
served as Grand Lecturer.
In 1990, Sister Marilyn Watt Crook, Past Matron of King David No 90. was elected, and served
for five yeas as Grand Secretary. In 1995, she was then elected to Associated Grand
Conductress of Eureka Grand Chapter. Sister Crook was elected to the position of Worthy
Grand Matron of Eureka Grand Chapter and served the years 2001 and 2002.
In 1999, Sister Joyce Clarke was elected to the position of Grand Auditor; she served this
position for three yeas. For hard work and dedication, the position of Grand Auditor Emeritus
was bestowed upon her in August of 2003 by Eureka Grand Chapter under the administration
of Sister Marilyn Watt-Crook, Worthy Grand Matron.
In 2002, Sister Fadra Winston-Willis was elected to the position of Grand Auditor for Eureka
Grand Chapter
In 2004, Sister Evelyn Brownlee - Flowers was elected to the position of Grand Auditor for
Eureka Grand Chapter
In 2006, Sister Tammy Hampton was elected to the position of Grand Trustee for Eureka
Grand Chapter
King David is very proud of all previous accomplishments as well as those currently serving
Eureka Grand Chapter as Appointed Officers
